It looked better on Trading Spaces

So Tigran had this desk which was an old particle board desk that he bought 4 years ago for $25 at a thrift store. Needless to say, in my opinion, it was ugly (he still thinks it was nice). Due to its ugliness level I decided that if we painted it, it could be salvaged! (#1 wrong decision).

To begin we bought brown paint and painted it brown...the paint job was nice...the diarrhea color was not! (#2 wrong decision). This morning we both thought that if we painted it black surely it would work in the room (#3 wrong decision). Well the black does look better but the second layer of paint on particle board does not. In the end we will be throwing the desk away and I will buying us a new one.

I guess we will chalk this up as a lesson learned: Painting particle board does not look good unless you have the magic of the television!

Tigran is finishing moving in today and then we are headed to Bellville to go to dinner with my Grandma, Grandpa, Mom and Dad. They are taking us to Red Lobster to celebrate my fellowship at OSU for next year. Grandpa said and I quote, "Bring your appetite!" (As if I ever leave it behind!)

Now I am just waiting for someone to get out of the shower so I can shower. Pray that there is still hot water!

What is particle board?

Yes, Mason and I are also having our experiences with home improvement. We tried staining our counter top the other day (it was old old wood) only to find out that the people before us must have had some kind of sealent on there... anyways, we need to sand it off and redo it.

Darn Trading Spaces for disilusioning us!

Live and learn I guess...and then get Luvs!

Particle board is really cheap wood...its like a chopped up and then glued together I believe to make wood. I think it has other "particles" in it too. Most likely if you bought furniture from wal-mart or CVS it is made of particle board.

I need to buy curtains but I can't find any I like and I really have no idea about curtains. ARGH!

I'm sorry to hear about your countertop Kristen. I think you can rent a hand sander from Home Depot though which would make the sanding go a lot quicker!

Tigran and I just saw this townhouse in Grandview that is brand new....its costs 435,000! (A TOWNHOUSE!)

You could always come to Ikea to look for curtains! Anything to get you in Pittsburgh :)
